Welcome in the centrally situated, friendly Bicycle Hotel in Amsterdam. The environmentally friendly hotel lies peacefully south of the centre in the vicinity of conference centre RAI in the beloved neighbourhood 'de Pijp'. Each morning a free and healthy breakfast is served. Free safes, Internet and rental bicycles are available as well.

Description
The pleasant Bicycle Hotel lies in the colourful quarter de Pijp, which is winning great popularity since a few years. The location between conference centre RAI and the centre with its rings of canals is excellent. Within a 10 minute walk the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Musuem, the Van Gogh Museum and the Concertgebouw are situated.

The hotel has ambitions: paper and glass are recycled and all cleaning is done with environmentally friendly products. Besides transport by bicycle is encouraged: the hotel rents out bicycles and carrier tricycles that are also suitable for carrying children. In addition there is a bicycle shed where cars and motor cycles can be placed as well.

The quiet location – almost no traffic can be heard here - and the service of the friendly staff really make this hotel recommendable. The Bicycle Hotel offers free use of the Internet computer in the breakfast room, free wireless Internet and free guest safes as extra's as well.

Food and drinks
The breakfast is included in the room price. The extensive buffet consists of various healthy items, such as various types of cereals, fruit juices and many other Dutch breakfast specialties. The hotel has no restaurant of its own, but de Pijp offers a very wide variety of places to eat in different price ranges. The hotel staff will gladly advise you!

The hotel offers free Internet on a computer in the breakfast room. Wireless Internet is also available.

Accessibility
The hotel can be reached excellently by tram. From Central Station take tram 25 and get off at tram stop '2e van der Helststraat'. The hotel lies in the first street at your right hand side.

Surroundings

De Pijp is often being referred to as the 'Latin Quarter' of Amsterdam. The district was built in the nineteenth century on a former polder in order to house the explosively growing population. The name (which translates as 'the Pipe') refers to the long and narrow ditches that carried the same name in those days.

The first inhabitants were mostly students, prostitutes, intellectuals and artists. In the sixties of last century the first immigrant workers joined them and in the years after many more people from various cultures settled here.

Currently the area celebrates its biggest popularity: Was it formerly known as a working class district, now it is actually trendy to live here. Also people with a higher income are represented well now, mainly because the prices of the houses within the ring of canals increased so rapidly.

This is why a remarkable growth in the number of hip restaurants and bars is seen here. There are fantastic cafes, cosy bars and trendy bars. Many exotic eating-houses, inspired on all corners of the world, give this neighbourhood a multicultural atmosphere. The typical Amsterdam pubs can still be found in almost each street though.

Because many cultures are represented, you have got the choice between a great deal of delicatessen. A visit to Amsterdam would not be complete without a visit to de Pijp!
